LGT Venture Philanthropy, Impact Ventures UK

Raf joined LGT Venture Philanthropy as a Partner in January 2013 to lead the Impact Ventures UK fund. Raf has over 14 years experience in growth capital and private equity investments in Europe. After 4 years with J.P. Morgan in New York as part of the Investment Banking team during 1996-2000, Raf transferred over to London and joined J.P. Morgan Partners (JPMP), the bank’s in-house private equity division. In 2006, JPMP spun out of J.P. Morgan to form CCMP Capital, an independent private equity firm. Raf stayed with CCMP Capital until 2010.

In 2010, Raf took a one-year sabbatical during which he worked with The Private Equity Foundation (venture philanthropy) and Special Yoga Centre (charity) on strategic issues. Raf then joined the newly-launched Business Growth Fund (BGF) in March 2011, a GBP 2.5bn growth capital fund set up by the five large UK banks.

Raf holds an MA in International Relations and International Economics from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at The Johns Hopkins University, an MA in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Leuven (Belgium), and a BA in Economics from the University of Antwerp (Belgium). Raf is also training as a Core Process Psychotherapist at The Karuna Institute in Devon, UK.
